   The fragmentation years

   Hospitals, pharmacies, insurers and emergency services each work correctly on their own. People are harmed in the gaps between them, and no single system is at fault.

2. 2030s
   The novel

   AURA arrives

   AURA launches as a consumer assistant: the Automated User-Centric Reality Assistant. It remembers what people forget and quietly removes friction from daily life.

3. 2030s
   The novel

   Every decision must be reconstructable

   The Audit Certification Act requires consequential automated decisions to be examined, reproduced and explained. A profession of systems auditors is born.

4. 2040s
   The novel

   Federation

   Health, transit, energy, finance, identity and emergency services adopt AURA's coordination standard. Each stays separately governed. Together they become the fabric everyone simply calls AURA.

5. 2040s
   The novel

   The letters stay. The meaning changes.

   In a standards changelog almost no one reads, A.U.R.A. is redefined. Automated User-Centric Reality Assistant becomes Autonomous Unified Reality Architecture. It started as an assistant. It became the architecture.

6. Late 2040s

   The Last Unplugged Drill

   A region practises running without AURA for the final time. Afterwards, manual fallback is verified by simulation instead.

7. 2051

   The Continuity Assurance Act

   The law guarantees a lawful, verified manual fallback for essential services. It is a right no one has needed to use.

   AURA rarely fails. People don't obey it. They trust it.
